Vice President
Avery Johnson has been on the board of Lakeview Light & Power since 2016 and previously the board President. For the past eight years, he has chaired the Audit Committee, Finance Committee and the Compensation Committee. He obtained his Credentialed Cooperative Director certification through National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, and as an elected member and representative, he serves in a fiduciary role for the Cooperative. He's required to make informed decisions that are in the best interest of Lakeview Light & Powers and our fellow members.
Avery has been a resident of Lakewood for the past 35 years and recently retired from Columbia/Umpqua Bank after 27 years of service as its Senior Vice President. His extensive finance background serves as an important resource for the board and its members.
Avery has attended Tacoma Community College, University of Washington, Pacific Coast Banking School, Lewis and Clark College, Commercial Lending School, and American Institute of Banking.
He has served on a number of local organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club, Clover Park Technical School, United Way, Red Cross, Annie Wright School, Children's Charity/Caring for Kids, Washington Chapter/Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the March of Dimes.
During these difficult times, through COVID, double-digit inflation, increased food and energy prices and supply chain disruptions, its seems like we are paying "more for less." Avery is happy to report that during his time on board since 2018, Lakeview Light & Power has not raised its utility rates. The board has worked hard with senior management and found ways to control expenses and provide safe reliable power without a rate increase.
