Dr. Alan Hart grew up in unincorporated Pierce County and after education and a career, retired and moved to Lakewood in 2001. During his career with Union Carbide Corporation and The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Dr. Hart worked in a variety of areas including occupational safety and health, product safety and quality. He managed a design safety and review group for Union Carbide. His engineering group conducted design safety and reliability studies or operations worldwide. He is currently an adjunct chemistry instructor at Tacoma Community College and volunteers with the Lakewood Police Department. He is chairman of the Lakewood Public Safety Advisory Committee and a member of the Lakewood Emergency Response and Preparedness Group and CERT. In 2011 Dr. Hart received the Governor’s Volunteer Award for his activities.
Dr. Hart believes that long-term planning and careful implementation of quality engineering design is in the best interests of customers and owners of an organization.
